“Be Inspired but Don’t Copy!”
-Unknown
Can we really control or prevent blog content from getting copied on the internet?
The (unfortunate) answer is no! It’s one of the disadvantages of sharing content on the internet. The content is available for free to all, including the content thieves. You cannot control who, when and with what intention gets to see your content.
Do not yet despair, as more than 90% people (stats based on my assumption and strong belief on humankind) visit your content on the internet with good intentions. But there are and always will be some bad elements in every group, and the internet is no exception.
It is not very rare (not anymore) for genuine bloggers to get their original content stolen by content thieves. Still, there are some methods which may help you keep your content safe and prevent it from getting copied.
The following are some preventive measures that might protect your content from content thieves-
- Create a Copyright declaration or notice on your site, explaining that the content is yours and use of the same without your permission is strictly prohibited. You can use a text widget to put the copyright notice in the footer area. You can even create a terms of use page to explain clearly your terms of using the content on your blog.

Here is an example of copyright notice, you can copy and paste this on your site or you may edit the text according to your preference-
Copyright © Your Name/ Your Blog/Website Name, 2018
All Rights Reserved.
Unauthorized use and/or duplication of this material without express and written permission from this site’s author and/or owner is strictly prohibited. Excerpts and links may be used, provided that full and clear credit is given to ‘Your Name’ and ‘Your Blog/Website Name’ with appropriate and specific direction to the original content.
- If you use your own photography or create graphics, quote pics, etc for your blog, always put your logo or name as watermark on them.

- Here’s the most recent and innovative way to stop getting your content copied. Share this article on your social media, reblog it on your own blog or go ahead and write one on the topic. Let people know you won’t let anyone get away with content theft. This will for sure keep those content thieves away from your content.

These are the few things I could think of to prevent original content from getting copied or stolen. None of the above guarantees that no one will ever copy any of your blog posts. But, these measures might just prevent the unfortunate from happening.
If there is anything we can do that has a little chance of preventing copy of our content, we must do it. A simple thing as putting a copyright notice on your blog might save you from having to deal with content theft.

I don’t think anyone will copy my content because it is just my opinions but I WiFi the copyright © thing too.

I hope no one ever copies your content, but you never know! Keeping the copyright about original content is always a good idea.
